My Reception in Calgary
After eloping in Italy last year my husband and I wanted to share some of what we experienced with our friends and family, so we brought everyone together in Calgary. Why Calgary? We wanted to be good hosts and Calgary was a central place for everyone to travel to. Calgary just happens to be the location of Teatro , the perfect venue for us. They are an Italian restaurant and certainly the best we have experienced outside of Italy. From Italian procesco and beer to real buffalo mozzarella, the meal was everything we hoped for.
I believe to maximize impact at a wedding everything should follow a strong theme or story. You will notice that every element I could make gold I did, from cutlery to vases. In Italy I chose simple blush peonies with natural olive foliage. I kept with the olive foliage and green elements for our reception. However, with black walls and a lot of space to fill, I felt a lot of color was needed. I chose a romantic palette of marsala, lavender, blush and sage. Blooms included peonies, roses, lisianthus and my favorite Vanda orchids. I was estatic with the result of my vision. It was a formal but wild room with lots of candles and romance. A Tuscan dream.
I told my venue that I had sparklers for the cake......but not the size of them. The last picture perfectly describes my Husband and I. His face says"what have you gotten us into?" and mine is just pure joy.
